John started playing piano when he was six, and picked up whatever instrument he could find from that point forward: clarinet, saxophone, bass, xylophone, bass clarinet, ukulele... 

When John graduated from school, hestarted writing music and playing in bands around St. Louis, including The Groupers, The Sun Sawed in Half and The Civil Tones. 

Over the years, John has traveled all over the country playing music,and has had some of the songs he has written used on TV shows, including MTV Shows Punk'd and Road Rules.
