Son of a classical pianist and younger sibling of a guitar player, Rock Hill, Missouri native Chris Spears has been drumming since the age of four, and studied drums privately for 12 years under Rusty Parker at Drum Headquarters in Maplewood. He has most notably been a member of the bands Cucumber Jones, Jive Turkey, Art Thugs, and All of us None of Us (Los Angeles), and this is his second tour of duty with The UltraViolets.

Chris's unique, soul-driven style was forged by his passion for underground hip-hop, New Orleans funk, jazz, rock, piano rags, and ska. Chris has shared the stage with national acts such as The Urge, Cowboy Mouth, The Ohio Players, Kid Koala, Ozomatli, and Buddy Miles. Chris has performed at many venues ranging from dirt-floor basement parties to outdoor venues including Kennedy's on Laclede's Landing to The Pageant, Ranch Bowl (Omaha), Bluenote (Columbia), Copper Dragon (Carbondale), The Good Hurt (Venice Beach), and more. His funky, live-wire, engaging performance style keeps the crowd in the game!
